Color of the Year 2011 is Honeysuckle – Pantone

Hey everyone - the color of the year for 2011 will be honeysuckle,  according to Pantone.   "A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life," Quotes Pantone.  While 2010's color was turqouise, a color of escape and calming, needed for our nation's economic woes, honeysuckle is a color meant "to face everyday troubles with verve and vigour."

Pantone is the developer of color matching, communication, and inspiration tools, helping industries such as digital technology, fashion, home, plastics, architecture and contract interiors, and paint select color. Pantone predicts that this color will be widespread from women's clothing, cosmetics, accessories, mens' ties, and even electronics and home decor. Honeysuckle is the the more gentle sister color of the vigorous red.  Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute observes, "In fact, this colour, not the sweet fragrance of the flower blossoms for which it was named, is what attracts hummingbirds to nectar...Honeysuckle may also bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent reminiscent of the carefree days of spring and summer." Perhaps this blushing color will help us ward off the blues and be a visual sign of our problems ending in 2011.

2007  Chili Pepper Red: "In 2007, there is an awareness of the melding of diverse cultural influences, and Chili Pepper is a reflection of exotic tastes both on the tongue and to the eye. Nothing reflects the spirit of adventure more than the color red. At the same time, Chili Pepper speaks to a certain level of confidence and taste."
